Now a well-established tradition, the Massed Pipe Bands Day was initiated by the present Duke’s father who recognised in the spectacular setting of the Castle the most evocative backdrop for an event of this nature.
There has been a fantastic response from bands this year. With bands from all over the Scottish Borders playing (en masse) music passed down through the centuries - tunes which have given courage and inspiration to Scots on battlefields throughout the world.
We are privileged once again to welcome Alasdair Hutton as our narrator for the day.
Narrator of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo since 1992, Alasdair narrates a wide variety of live shows and concerts around the world, as well as videos and audio presentations. He became Convener of Scotland Borders Council in 2003.
Alasdair has been presenting our Massed Pipe Bands Day event for the last fifteen years.
As well as some inspiring Scottish music, there is also a host of entertainment for all the family including:
• Ceilidh Band • Adventure Playground • Laser Clays • Bouncy Castle • Crazy Golf • Face Painting
