/WATERLOO MONUMENT
Location:  Nisbet, Nr Ancrum, 5.7 miles
The massive Waterloo Monument on the grassy hill of Peniel Heugh is a landmark in many a Borders view.  Be sure to get the keys to explore inside, and go right to the top of the monument. It is said the woods around the hill were planted in the formation of the armies at the battle of Waterloo.

/MELROSE ABBEY
Location:  Melrose, 18 miles
Melrose Abbey is a magnificent ruin on a grand scale with lavishly decorated masonry.  The Abbey is the burial place of Robert the Bruce’s heart, marked with a commemorative carved stone plaque within the grounds. Visitors can also visit a small museum housing a display of artefacts found within the abbey.

/JEDBURGH CASTLE & JAIL
Location:  Jedburgh, 8.5 miles
A taste of life behind bars in the 1820s, a model prison in its day but now a bit spooky,  Featured recently on the TV programme “Most Haunted” An impressive building with views of Jedburgh.  Suitable for children as there is a childrens guide.

/JEDBURGH ABBEY
Location:  Jedburgh, 8.5 miles
Brief Description:  Jedburgh Abbey, founded in 1138, was a frequent target for invading border armies.Today, there is a cloister and herb garden to explore, and a visitor centre containing 8th century carvings and artefacts excavated from the abbey grounds.

/WILLIAM WALLACE STATUE
Location:  St Boswells, 12.4 miles
Brief Description:  A giant statue overlooking scots view.  Stunning scenery.
