The Stud
The current Duke's father started the Stud in 1948. The Stud consists of 132 acres and currently has fifteen resident thoroughbred brood mares. The colts and a few fillies tend to be sold as yearlings. Some of the fillies are kept to run under the Duke's colours.

Successes
One of the most successful horses Floors Stud has bred was Attraction. Her record of ten wins from fifteen starts, including five Group I’s, place her up with the very best horses in recent years, and she is certainly the finest racehorse ever bred in Scotland. Her wins include the 1,000 Guineas, the Irish 1,000 Guineas and the Coronation Stakes. She was European Champion Two-Year Old Filly and British Champion Two-Year Old Filly. Read her full story here.
Attraction's success has continued as a broodmare. Her first two foals were both winners. Her 2012 yearling (by Oasis Dream) sold at Newmarket for 420,000 guineas and has gone in to training with Aiden O'Brien.

Mention must also be given to the bay gelding Viva Pataca. Bred by the Dukes of Roxburghe and Devonshire from the stud mare Comic, Viva Pataca was sold abroad in 2005. His success in Hong Kong has been phenomenal. Having nine major wins including the Hong Kong Derby, the Queen Elizabeth Cup and the Hong Kong Gold Cup. His winnings at the time of retirement were just under £6 million.
