Grounds & Gardens - Star Plantation Woodland
The Star Plantation, located between the Castle and the Millennium Parterre, has seen a dramatic transformation over the last few years following a major storm in 1993.
Thanks to Jim Marshall of the National Trust who advised on the garden's restoration, it is now filled with ornamental trees, flowering shrubs, evergreens and bulbs.
Centered on a circular wrought-iron tree seat around the central lime are a series of radiating paths. Visitors can enjoy the contrast and variety of colour. The form and scale is achieved through careful design, using a pleasing mixture of glades, mature trees and group planting containing many exciting and colourful varieties of shrubs.
