The Sporting Estate
Pheasant and Grouse Shooting
The pheasant season runs from the start of November until the end of January. It is managed by our Head Gamekeeper, Michael Biggs, who has been with the estate for 25 years. His invaluable experience is second to none and he knows the woodlands like the back of his hand! A hearty lunch is served in the Castle State Dining Room.
The grouse season is from 12 August until 5 October each year.
The grouse moors, Rawburn and Byrecleugh, are two of the finest grouse moors in Scotland being highly consistent and prolific.
Lunch is served with a warming dram or two in a rustic hut surrounded by rugged moorlands.
