Woodland and Riverside Walk
This walk offers one of the most splendid surviving landscape views in Scotland. The hive of fauna activitiy on the River Tweed contains an abundance of oyster catchers, herons and green plover. In the woodlands, greater spotted wood peckers are often heard, while tree creepers, goldcrests and tawny owls and red squirrels can sometimes be seen, as well as many of the more common song birds.
In the parkland are some fine examples of native trees, while the woodlands contain many magnificent mature oak, lime and sweet chestnut trees which survive from the time of Daniel Defoe's visit in the 18th century.
