To start with - the guides bring the place to life. As you go round the castle they tell you all sorts, tell you where the secret alleyways are, and bring the place to life. It is reasonably priced, and although you don't get to see all of the house, you see some really good bits, and there are lots of exhibits that tell you about the history of the place, and it is really engaging.
The guides were incredibly knowledgeable about the castle and ground. This made the visit special as they almost gave us a private tour of the public accessible areas of Floors castle. The guides are proud of the castle, the duke and his family, which really shone through in their narratives.
Loved this castle. Guides were very friendly and informative. Shop and garden centre were full of treasures.
Floors Castle is a truly extraordinary place – starting from the very first moment when you see the house from the outside (the size is like the one of the kings’ castles!), through touring the house, where the guides in particular rooms are very helpful and eagerly share stories about the house and the family, up to learning that the family still lives in the place, runs the estate and tries to carry on the traditional lifestyle. A MUST SEE if you’re a castle fan!
