Floors Castle - Castle Visits

Take a tour and visit the beautifully preserved Floors Castle near Kelso in the Scottish Borders, home to the Duke of Roxburghe whose family are members of the Innes and Ker clans of Scotland.  Find out more about its distinctive design by the architect William Playfair whose buildings in Edinburgh gave it the title Athens of the North, as well as Duchess May – an American socialite who married the 8th Duke of Roxburghe and was the real life Cora from Downton Abbey.  Take the tour and find out more about its famous collection of Beauvais and Gobelins tapestries as well as splendid French furniture.

Floors Castle is not only a Duke's family home, but also the heart of the diverse Roxburghe Estates in a beautiful part of the Scottish Borders.  It contains collections of fine art, porcelain, newly restored tapestries, grand rooms and superb views.  There are also woodland and riverside walks, formal and informal gardens and lots of lovely places to sit and watch the world go by.
