"Looking back over the many years I have lived and worked at Floors there have been many memorable occasions. From the filming of 'Greystoke, The Legend of Tarzan' with Christopher Lambert and Andy McDowell to Annika Rice with treasure hunt, Two Fat Ladies arriving by bike and side car to cook for jockeys at Kelso Racecourse, Bargain Hunt with Tim Wonnacot and many more.
1988 stands out, it was when Floors hosted the Game Fair. It was torrential rain for three days, the fields in front of the Castle were like a quagmire however it never stopped the visitors coming round the Castle - once they had washed their wellies in the bath of water which were at the entrances.
Then in July 2005, Floors hosted the worldwide Citroën 2 C V Rally and true to British weather, it was cold and rained for a week but Scottish hospitality came to the fore as many people from Kelso helped dry out wet clothes and gave them warm bedding.
August Bank Holiday Sunday has always been a favourite with visitors. The Massed Pipe Bands and Scottish dancers, tractor rides, crazy golf etc are a huge draw. In 2011 we had the Household Cavalry who put on a marvellous display.
We have had many visitors who have returned each year and there have been a few characters. Among them, one lady in particular who brought her cat with her in a box. She also wanted to be announced on arrival and hoped the pink sitting room had been scrubbed out for her.
I have been lucky enough to always have had a good team of guides who loved their job and looked after the visitors this was proved by all the letters and comments that were made.
It has been a wonderful 27 years at Floors Castle, I am just so happy to have had the experience"
